چکیده

Background CMR measurement of mitral inflow velocities for the assessment of diastolic function is often infeasible in patients with dyspnea patients who may benefit the most due to their inability to breath-hold. Although real-time phase contrast (RT-PC) imaging may overcome this limitation, it has not been systematically evaluated. The objective of this study was to assess the accuracy of RT-PC for the measurement of mitral inflow velocities against segmented PC CMR and Doppler echocardiography.

MRI assessment of diastolic dysfunction in comparison to transthoracic echocardiography

Background Over the last decade the interest in diastolic dysfunction has grown, due to the fact that at least half of all cases of newly diagnosed heart failure patients present with preserved ejection fraction. One of the most important tasks of cardiovascular imaging is the objective assessment of left ventricular (LV) systolic and diastolic function, which is routinely performed with standa...

Age-related variations in left ventricular diastolic parameters assessed automatically from phase-contrast cardiovascular magnetic resonance data: comparison against doppler echocardiography

Background Recent studies suggest the ability of phase-contrast cardiovascular magnetic resonance (PC-CMR) to provide velocity and flow-related left ventricular diastolic function parameters in good agreement with Doppler echocardiography (DE). Furthermore, DE diastolic parameters are known to change with aging. The aim of the present study is to assess whether the age-related variations of dia...

Measurement of Phase-Contrast MRI mitral flow and lateral wall motion for Assessment of Diastolic Function in a Normal Collective

Introduction In approx. 50% of cases, heart failure is caused by an isolated diastolic dysfunction (DD) in the presence of a preserved systolic function but with comparably devastating outcome. Among others, echocardiography (EC) categorized DD mainly according to early (E-wave) and late (A-wave) diastolic mitral blood flow (MBF) as well as tissue-doppler imaging (TDI) showing characteristic S`...

Optimal planimetry location for MRI-derived mitral inflow velocity assessment of diastolic function

Background Diastolic function is almost exclusively assessed using transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), however velocityencoded phase-contrast imaging permits diastolic evaluation with cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR). However, previous studies have utilized heterogeneous planimetric contour locations to measure mitral valve (MV) inflow velocities and the optimal contour is uncertain. We there...

Detecting left ventricular impaired relaxation in cardiac MRI using moving mesh correspondences

UNLABELLED Anatomical cine cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging is widely used to assess the systolic cardiac function because of its high soft tissue contrast. Assessment of diastolic LV function has not regularly been performed due the complex and time consuming procedures. This study presents a semi-automated assessment of the left ventricular (LV) diastolic function using anatomi...
